Evolving Inclusive Cultures with Vanessa Paige

Vanessa spearheaded the development of Hungry Harvest’s first DEIB initiative. She is is a key driver for cultivating a supportive and inclusive work environment for all Hungry Harvest employees.
About the guest
Vanessa is the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Manager at Hungry Harvest—a rescued produce delivery company on a mission to fight food waste and eradicate hunger in the US. In 2019, Vanessa spearheaded the development of Hungry Harvest’s first DEIB initiative. In this role, she works collaboratively to develop and implement DEIB training and learning opportunities, procedures and policies, and other programming. Vanessa is a key driver for cultivating a supportive and inclusive work environment for all Hungry Harvest employees. Before transitioning to the DEIB role, Vanessa served as the Philadelphia Market Manager. She grew the market by over 60%, secured and maintained valuable strategic partnerships, and won the SustainPHL Business Innovation of the Year Award in 2018. She also managed and supported impactful relationships with food access organizations across the Greater Philadelphia Region. Before joining the Hungry Harvest team, Vanessa spent two years as a Venture for America Fellow. She was nominated as one of the Top 10 fellows by the class of 2015 and served as one of the founding members of the Black Fellows Affinity group, now known as Build21. She spent most of her fellowship working at a private foundation in San Antonio and a small tech company in Philadelphia. During her time at both organizations, Vanessa led and organized grassroots DEI efforts with other staff members or community partners.
